What makes me different?
Many coaches say same the same thing (you'll see that below). Where I differ:
- I don't know how to coach you until I get to know you.
- Workouts as guides, not rigid prescriptions - teaching you to make smart, in-the-moment decisions.
- Training that Fits Your Life means that I don't make you contorts your life any more than you want to.
- You can run with friends/groups, go dancing, play tennis, etc. A happy runner is a healthy, sustainable runner.
- Emphasize sustainable, long term progress, balance, over quick hits.
Who is my ideal client?
- Non-elite. I'm not and have never been an elite. I am and work with mere mortals.
- Been doing the same things and not getting faster.
- Repeatedly falling short of goals.
- A history of getting injured.
- Wanting to be more time efficient.
- Older runner needing to adapt to the realities of an aging body.
- Struggled to stick with a program.
- Reaching for a big, difficult to attain goal.
- Stepping up/down in distance or to a new type of event (e.g., trail).
Training the Fits Your Life
Serious goals take serious commitments. However, real, long term, sustainable success also requires a healthy balance in all areas of your life: work, school, family, friends, etc. I contort the training around the realities of your life - time constraints, obligations, stresses, unpredictability - to help you maintain a healthy life balance.
Coaching Philosophy
The relationship is the most important factor in effective coaching. A successful experience is built on:
- Mutual trust and respect.
- Open communication - This is two-way.
- Collaboration - This is a team effort.
- Learn as you train - This helps you become a smarter and better athlete.
Training Philosophy
I don't have a training philosophy. Rather, I don't have a single one. bring a variety of training approaches to fit you - your goals, strengths and weaknesses, lifestyle, etc. - not me or anyone else. I work to enhance your strengths and tackle your limiters. I bring in ideas from coaching legends as well as cutting edge research and approaches, from people including: Lydiard, Daniels, Maffetone, Magness, Noakes, Pfitzinger, Friel,, Canova and Hutchinson, and more.
